Yes is there anyone able to help Dawn?
When she talks of a 'Gothar' she means a celebrant, priest(ess) - preferably from Northern Tradition.

So anyone out there who could help??

Hi Dawn,

first of all, congratulations on the upcoming wedding! [Smile]

I don't really know the pagan scene in Switzerland, but have you tried looking these guys up?

This is interesting to me.

I am already married, for the law and in church. After 15 years and several marriage disputes, I only feel now ready to honour my relationship the way it deserves. I have a good feeling with the handfasting ritual, though I feel te "probation" time of one year and a day is already included in that 15 years.

A mutual friend of my wife and me (an older lady, former protestant religion teacher but now into more pagan ceremonies, she is following a course on that, but it's not exactly defined as pagan, definitely inspired with that) has agreed to lead the ceremony. I really feel warm friendship for her, so is my wife and she is certainly qualified to lead that ceremony. I don't know if that's a common habit, but I'd rather have her doing it than someone I don't know. Of course, not everyone is qualified to lead a ceremony, I know I couldn't do that properly.

The nice thing about pagan paths/ traditions is that we are not 'bound' by a certain laws.

In the Netherlands the celebration, or blessing of a wedding is also totally separate from the legal side.

Pagan Weddings - or handfastings - can be conducted by friends or what we call 'Celebrants'.

I know of a couple of people in Belgium who conduct rituals - weddings, requiems and so on
They are often called 'rituele begeleiders' in Dutch.

Ben the Nat. Coordinator for PFI Belgium can also help you.
